Fiat India to launch Grande Punto on 17th June
Fiat India Automobiles Ltd, the 50:50 Joint Venture between Fiat S.p.A and Tata Motors, announced that it is poised to launch both the petrol and diesel versions of the Grande Punto, a mid-size hatchback, on June 17, 2009. The company plans to launch and unveil the car at a grand ceremony to be held in New Delhi. The car is what many would consider a perfect follow up to the Linea which has already created ripples in the C plus segment. Grande Punto will roll out from the company’s state-of-the-art plant at Ranjangaon which also manufactures Fiat’s Linea and Palio.
The car designed by the ‘Car Designer of the Century’ – Giorgetto Giugiaro, has consistently done well since its launch in Europe in 2005. The Grande Punto known for its cutting edge design and robust engineering will drive to India with the numerous accolades that it has won world over. Recognitions for the car include Brazil’s ‘Carro Do anno 2008’ (Car of the Yar 2008), Autocar magazine’s coveted design award and Auto Interamericana 2008 among many others. The car also comes with the comforting 5-Star Euro Ncap safety rating which will be a factor that many buyers would want to consider. Positioned as a large two box hatch, it has been designed to represent three fundamental qualities, namely- beauty, solidity and brilliance, all coupled into a terrific car that has quintessential Italian styling. The stylish car will fall in the same segment as the Maruti Suzuki Ritz, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia and the to-be-launched Honda Jazz.
The company has promised to make the Grande Punto a great value proposition like the Linea through increased localisation to the extent of 85% by December 2009. The company is also working overtime to ensure that the car is supported through a robust Tata-Fiat dealer network comprising of 100 sales and service outlets by time of launch. To further enhance customer experience and strengthen after sales support for Grande Punto launch, series of initiatives have been taken which include extensive training to over 800 dealer sales & service staff. New dealer identity norms have been introduced at showrooms and workshops which meet international standards. In addition JD Power has been hired to conduct quarterly CSI/SSI survey to monitor customer satisfaction and feedback on regular intervals.
Greate News Fiat India …Finaly Finally and Finallly GP is being launched in India…
One small request please keep the same price difference between Emotion and Emotion pack models in both Petrol and Diesel variants.
Secondly, we would like to see 16″ and 17″ wheels as options in GP.
Best of Luck….

Thanks. We were all eagerly waiting for this moment. Please get the pricing and A.S.S right then GP will be sure winner.
I waited for this car for a very long time and finally settled for Indica Vista Quadrajet Aura. All the best and hope the car leaves to its reputation in India and no quality compromise is made.await to take a test ride.
I am eagerly waiting for the official launch of GP since last year or may be more (ever since I came to know about FIAT thinking to launch it in India), and most certainly would opt for a diesel GP.
But I wonder why you have maintained tight lips about any technical details of this car!
It will be great to see FIAT’s international winner/saviour on Indian roads but despite being a brilliance , will it be able to create a space in a common indian car buyer’s mind who have forgotten fiat due to its neglegence towards customer service.
But i hope this time Fiat will work on every aspect to regain its lost fortunes and grande Punto can prove a stepping stone .
best of luck
Neeraj
In Europe, GP is available with 16 and 17 inch rims.
Even if that is not offered in India, please consider that some people would like to be able to have the option to fit rims of these sizes. Hope the you would consider this and allow this provision & not void the warranty of the suspension system.

Do introduce a 1.6 litre engine developing more than 100 bhp to make it a hot hatch.
I was very very eagerly waiting for this very reliable and robust car since 2007. I love to own this great piece of engineering marvel.
This is the car I’ve been waiting for since April 2008. I hope this is the perfect upgrade to my current warhorse Fiat Palio Diesel (Old). Hope instead of the biege we’ll get an all black interiors. And the 1.6L Multijet do come in as a sport version (atleast!!!) in the future. The launch of this wonderful machine will really carry the momentum FIAT got with the Linea to an all new level. Way to go FIAT. All the very best!!
All the best and i really hope this is the rebirth of Fiat Cars era in india again. I am eagerly waiting for the Punto release & i hope it meets the Customers needs & stand up to the indian customers expectations as it has done in Europe.
Eagerly awaiting the launch of the ‘Power-Hatch’ from Fiat.

I have been waiting for the past 2 months for the launch of grande punto, can’t wait to see it in flesh, hope you guys get the ASS rite, thats what everybody keeps me scaring of.
I have bought Fiat Linea last month and am so happy over my choice. It is a dream vehicle which could do with some more power. Hope the so-called perception on servicing issues are only past memory and customers will now get the good treatment which will make FIAT a brand of choice
I am waiting for the pictures, engine specs of Grande Punto. I think with the absurd prices of Honda Jazz, this is the best chance for Fiat India to make a killing by pricing the Punto sensibly. My vote undoubtedly goes to Grande Punto
well well this time Fiat has come with exquisite style and performance.
Linea and now Punto will rule the roads…..
will zoom like a panther………
roar like a lion and serve like a Donkey.
just waiting for it to release to book one to enjoy driving…….
